She received her MD at Duke University and did her residency at the University of Pennsylvania before completing her pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. She specializes in clinical anesthesia for fetal surgery, epidermolysis bullosa, and pediatric neurosurgery. Her academic interests focus on education and resident wellness.

Dr. Jordan Francke grew up in Kentucky and Maine. He obtained a bachelor’s degree with honors in Neuroscience from Bowdoin College. Afterwards, he worked for three years at Massachusetts General Hospital researching pediatric HIV transmission, before receiving his MD and MPH degrees from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is now in his final year of anesthesiology residency at UCLA, and will be pursuing an obstetric anesthesiology fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital next year. In his free time, he enjoys long-distance running, writing, traveling, cooking, making his own scented candles, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Adaora Chima is a graduate of University of Nigeria College of Medicine, Enugu, Nigeria and completed a Master of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. After spending a few years researching sustainable anesthesia delivery systems and perioperative care in West Africa, she commenced anesthesia residency at University of Rochester, New York, followed by a pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center (CCHMC) in Ohio. She currently splits her clinical time between pediatric patients at CCHMC and adult/obstetric patients at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. Allison Janda completed medical school at the University of Michigan, anesthesiology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and cardiothoracic anesthesiology clinical fellowship followed by a T32 research fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Janda’s research focuses on studying outcomes after cardiac and major non-cardiac surgery, as well as how intraoperative decisions and events impact the patient experience and cost after surgery. She works with the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (MPOG), an international consortium of perioperative databases coordinated at the University of Michigan, to perform retrospective observational studies pertaining to her interests in perioperative outcomes. Additionally, she aims to apply the resources of the MPOG database to aid in the development of pragmatic clinical trials to study intraoperative care, postoperative complications, cost, and patient-centered outcomes.

Dr. Mark Arcario entered the world of anesthesiology research while completing his PhD in Biophysics and Computational Biology as part of the Medical Scholars Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Utilizing molecular dynamics simulations, he studied the interaction of volatile anesthetics with the membrane-protein interface. He then went on to complete his medical studies (MD) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Following this, he matriculated to the Academic Scholars Advancement Program (ASAP) at Washington University in Saint Louis, an innovative track that emphasizes research for physician-scientists. He completed residency training at Washington University in Saint Louis and is pursuing a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Washington University in Saint Louis. His current research focuses on utilizing molecular dynamics simulations to study the effect of native lipid species on the gating function of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels, with particular attention on free fatty acids.

Saul S. Siller, MD, PhD, is a current resident in the Residency Program at Yale School of Medicine and a member of the residency program’s research track, known as the Research Scholars Program. He obtained his BA from Vanderbilt University, double majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Spanish. He performed undergraduate research in the field of developmental neurobiology in the laboratory of Kendal Broadie. He then went to Stony Brook University where he obtained both his MD and PhD degrees through the institution’s Medical Scientist Training Program. His PhD is in molecular and cellular pharmacology, and he conducted his dissertation work with Ken-Ichi Takemaru, studying airway ciliated cell differentiation.

Dr. Michael Mathis received his B.S.E. degree at Duke University and subsequently completed medical school, residency, and cardiothoracic anesthesia/T32 fellowship training at the University of Michigan. Dr. Mathis is an Assistant Professor and Director of Cardiac Anesthesia Research at the University of Michigan. His research interests are in improving perioperative care for patients with advanced cardiovascular disease, particularly for patients with heart failure. As part of the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (MPOG), he plays a lead role in integration of data from national cardiac and thoracic surgery registries. He also has interests in leveraging novel data science methods to understand patterns within highly granular intraoperative physiologic data, studying hemodynamic responses to surgical and anesthetic stimuli as a means for early detection of cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Mathis has secured NIH funding through a K01 grant studying a perioperative data-driven approach to the diagnosis of heart failure.

After an early career as an NIH-supported epidemiologist, Dr Ragheb-Mueller decided to enter medical school. During her clinical rotations, she had the good fortune to spend six months in Malawi at Blantyre’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and decided to pursue a career in anesthesiology. Today, she works at JHS Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management, where she enjoys working at the crossroads of public health and medicine with the residents in her department who hail from across North America and around the world.
