The Global Scholars Award (GSA) is a two-year, $20,000 funding opportunity to support a global mentored research initiative. GSA is a powerful call to action exclusively for anesthesia providers in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs) who believe in the power of academic research to drive medical advances and patient care. The award will foster innovation, creativity, and capacity building for a young investigator/junior faculty who is interested in a career in academic research.
Utilize the GSA to develop your scientific acumen and fulfill your academic and leadership potential!
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to research and the potential for leadership within their home country.
- Eligible applicants must be conducting research related to anesthesiology or perioperative medicine.
- Applicants must be connected directly or collaboratively to an anesthesia department at an institution located in a low- or lower-middle-income country (LMIC), as defined by The World Bank. Please note: anesthesia providers in upper-middle-income countries are not eligible for the GSA.

The GSA has a two step application process. The first step is to write and submit a letter of intent (LOI) for the Global Scholars (GSA) award. If your LOI is accepted for the second phase of the application process, you will be invited to write a full proposal. Five grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded.
