The IARS and Anesthesia & Analgesia were represented by Angela Enright, Section Editor of Global Health. She informed the delegates of new international initiatives from IARS and A&A. These include:

  • The Global Scholars Award. This is a new mentored research award for $50,000 US, designed to foster innovation, creativity and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It is aimed at early-career investigators.
  • A new International Travel Grant to enable colleagues from LMICs to present their abstracts at the IARS Annual Meeting in Honolulu in 2025.
  • Discounted membership fees for LMIC colleagues. This also includes free membership to IARS for trainees all over the world.
  • Anesthesia & Analgesia new Editorial Fellowships. These will provide a 12-month opportunity to work with the journal team to gain experience in all aspects of editorial work.
  • Workshop on Basic Peer Reviewing which was very well received.

A great deal of interest in IARS and A&A was generated by these efforts. Many expressed their thanks to both the Journal and the Society for the efforts to support anesthesia in less well-resourced regions of the world. We hope to continue to build from these efforts.
