Where will the IARS 2019 Annual Meeting and International Science Symposium be held?
All IARS 2019 Annual Meeting activities will take place at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the Headquarters Hotel.

How do I register for the meeting and what are the registration fees?

May I bring a guest to the Annual Meeting?
Guests are welcome and may register at the appropriate non-member registration rate.
What is included with my registration?
All IARS, AUA and SOCCA attendees are invited to attend the Aligned Meeting Day sessions on Saturday, May 18, the Celebration of Science Reception, Moderated Poster Discussion Sessions and Exhibit Area.
AUA Annual Meeting registrants have access to all AUA Sessions, Thursday, May 16 through Friday, May. 17.
SOCCA Annual Meeting and Critical Care Update registrants have access to all SOCCA Sessions, Friday, May 17.
IARS Annual Meeting and International Science Symposium registrants have access to all IARS Sessions, Friday, May 17 through Monday, May 20. Workshops and Problem-Based Learning Discussions require pre-registration. The Ultrasound Workshop requires an additional fee to attend. Workshops and PBLDs have limited space, so register now to reserve your seat.
What is the dress code for the Annual Meeting?
The dress code for the Annual Meeting is business casual.
What’s the difference between the session types?
Panels are lecture-based sessions. Panelists will speak on individual topic areas relating to the overall theme of the panel, closing with a moderated question and answer period.
PBLDs are conducted as case-based, problem-oriented, learner-centered discussions. Participants will engage in a didactic case-based learning session with the opportunity to closely interact with the session presenter(s) and attendees.
Review Course Lectures are presentation-based on big picture, cutting-edge topics.
Symposia are lecture-based sessions. Presenters will speak on individual topic areas related to the overall theme of the symposium. Similar to panels, symposia allow more time for presenters to go more in-depth on their topic.
Workshops are lecture and hands-on based sessions. A workshop organizer, along with 3 to 6 presenters, will provide a lecture as well as demonstrate/hands-on training techniques and skills on topic areas related to the overall theme of the workshop.
Can I register for a session onsite?
Yes! We welcome onsite registrations – but please be aware that many of our workshops and PBLDs fill up quickly. Space is limited for these more intimate sessions, so we recommend registering now. Please check with the registration desk onsite for availability.
Will there be any dedicated programs for attendees in-training?
The Scholars’ Program at the Annual Meeting is designed for all early-career anesthesiology faculty, fellows, residents and medical students interested in academic anesthesiology in order to support the development of young academic anesthesiologists, increase diversity in the upper levels of anesthesiology and advance the science that informs clinical practice. The Scholars’ Program takes place on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, and requires a separate $50 fee and pre-registration. This fee includes education sessions, reception, breakfast and lunch. Space is limited so register early!
Will the Annual Meeting sessions be recorded and be made available post meeting?
Recorded sessions of the Annual Meeting educational activities will be made available through IARS On Demand and will cover approximately 80 hours of presentations from Review Course Lectures, Panels, and Symposia. If you are unable to attend the Annual Meeting or would like to rewatch a session after the Annual Meeting, the On Demand program allows you access to Annual Meeting sessions, with lecture slides synchronized to live audio to give you a live-session experience. Additionally, approximately 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ may be claimed for continuing medical education through IARS Annual Meeting On Demand.

How do I submit an abstract or session proposal?
We are no longer accepting session proposal submissions the 2019 Annual Meeting. The submission process for the 2020 Annual Meeting in San Francisco will be open in May 2019.
Late-Breaking Abstract submissions are being accepted through March 5, 2019. Check out the Abstract Submission page for more information.

How do I claim CME from the IARS Annual Meeting?
The CME survey for the will be available after the day after the IARS Annual Meeting ends. All registered attendees will receive an email with instructions to claim their CME.
Upon completion of the online CME survey and attesting to your level of participation in the educational activity, you will receive a certificate for your records.
Please note, you will have 90 days after the survey opens to claim your CME.
Do I need a VISA to get into Canada?
For attendees who are US citizens, a VISA is not needed but you will need a passport that is valid for six months after the meeting. It takes 6-8 weeks to apply for and receive the passport, so get this done as soon as you know that you are attending.
For attendees from other countries, VISA requirements vary. More information about VISA requirements, letter of invitation, and other travel information can be found on the Registration, Hotel, and VISA page.
Which airport is closest to meeting hotel?
Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is the only airport available for international travelers. It’s just a 20-30-minute drive to the hotel headquarters.
How do I request space for an Ancillary Meeting during the IARS Annual Meeting?
Organizations wishing to hold group functions in conjunction with the IARS 2019 Annual Meeting and International Science Symposium, May 17-20, 2019, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, must first obtain meeting space from the IARS. Space is assigned after all official IARS education, Board of Trustee, and special event functions have been placed.

Will there be an app for the Annual Meeting?
Yes, the IARS Annual Meeting and International Science Symposium will feature an interactive mobile app that will allow you to view a complete event schedule, explore all educational sessions and activities, and access detailed presenter information. Attendees will also be able to connect with their peers and colleagues though the app and expand their professional network during the Annual Meeting. The app will be available in the Apple and Google Play stores.
